Designs for new Hotel Elliot function centre revealed

Hotel Elliot is currently building a new brand function centre, which will feature a tapas restaurant, bar, and ‘sophisticated’ beachside design.

Hotel Elliot, located at the picturesque beachside town of Port Elliot, is building a brand new function centre, suitable for weddings, corporate events, birthdays and more.

The detached function centre is currently being built on the adjoining site to the existing pub, where a dilapidated stone building once stood. The neglected building has been pulled down and given a new life – with the original stone being incorporated into the front façade of the new function centre.

To remain consistent with the character and personality of Port Elliot, a heritage building designer as been consulted for the front façade and design and construction firm, Mosmo Living, has taken great care in its interior design.

“There’s a lot of character of Port Elliot and we wanted to sensitively represent Port Elliot inside the space. It would’ve done the public a disservice to not consider the natural surroundings of Port Elliot into the design,” said Mosmo Living Interior Designer, Tenille De Brueys.

Mosmo Living was engaged by Hotel Elliot owner Matthew Kelly to select the internal finishes of the new function centre, from designing a new tapas restaurant inside the function centre, to designing the new bar and selecting the furniture.

“We’ve been engaged to offer a really beautifully designed space that attracts visitors all year round,” she said. “It will be a unique offering where you can sit and linger, grab a bottle of wine and have a light bite to eat. It will be the perfect destination at the heart of Port Elliot, close to the cockle train.”

Mosmo Living has revealed a few rendered images of the space, to give a general feel of what the new function centre may look like.

It is half-way through construction – the roof is on and internal lining is underway – and is expected to be completed in late September, just in time for the warmer months.

The construction of the function centre, which is being undertaken by Egan Builders, is currently underway.

With the roof in place and internal lining being installed, the construction is half-way through and projected to be completed by late September – just in time for the warmer months. You can find regular progress photos on the Egan Builders Instagram page.

Inside the building, Tenille says the interiors will be a sophisticated interpretation of Port Elliot’s natural beauty.

“When we were thinking about interiors, we didn’t want to do the quintessential beach theme, so while we still used deep blues, we’re also pulling the pinky tones of sand, the pink tones of a sunset… pulling all the colours from the local environment in an authentic way, sensitive to natural surroundings,” she said.

For the bar, Tenille says there will be new stone bench tops, fronted with polytec half round dowel (timber) and lined with a brass kicker.

“Timber, brass, and stone have been carried through the entire fit-out. Very subtle nautical themes also appear in the details of the space,” she said.

Inspired by the metal railing of a boat, the overhead bar will be made of rounded steel and glass.
