Turtle conservation might seem an unlikely subject for a comedy night, but that’s exactly what’s coming to Adelaide this September.
Turtles After Dark will bring comedian Kevin Kropinyeri together with turtle researchers from across Australia for an evening of stories, science and laughs at Harry’s Bar on Monday, September 28.
Hosted by the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board as part of South Australia’s Nature Festival, the event will give audiences a glimpse into the lives of turtle researchers and the work being done to protect these often-overlooked reptiles.
Kevin will bring his comic wit to the conversation as researchers share what threatens turtles, what conservation efforts are already underway and how people can help. The evening follows the first day of the Australasian Turtle Symposium, which brings researchers, First Nations representatives and conservation groups together in Adelaide.
Doors open at 6pm for platters and finger food, with the show running from 6.45pm to 7.30pm. Shared pizza follows, and the event closes at 9pm. Dinner is included in the ticket price, with drinks available to purchase.
Nature Festival runs from September 25 to October 11, with more than 350 experiences across South Australia. This year’s theme, SEED, looks at how small actions can shape our connection with nature.
