The Workers’ Educational Association of South Australia Incorporated, founded in 1913 and known locally as the WEA, is Australia’s largest non-government adult community education organisation. The WEA was founded to support working men and women to access education they could not otherwise afford. Today the WEA operates as an innovative, flexible provider of adult learning and remains committed to making education accessible for all with moderately priced short courses. The WEA is an independent, non-government association almost completely funded by the student fees that it receives. Every year the WEA offers more than 1500 short courses and publishes five Course Guides each year in late January, early April, late June, mid-September and late November.
