Feast Festival, Adelaide’s annual lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer (LGBTIQ) Arts and Cultural Festival is calling of for Expressions of Interest for the 2015 festival.
Established in 1997. Now in its 19th year Feast Festival promotes pride, community identity, inclusion and celebration which maximises community involvement and social inclusion.
They present artistically excellent, ground-breaking arts projects involving LGBTIQ artists from a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds. 2014 was the first year the festival has been fully curated, it was a hugely successful with top quality performance and art being presented, increased audience attendances and excellent feedback from our LGBTIQ community, stakeholders, artists and peers.
However feedback also indicated that ‘there were too many choices, too much on in the 16 days’. This year Feast has old us they will “consolidate the festival program and limit the number of works presented so as to not to have to ‘split our audience’ over a vast program. The aim is to please both the community and artists in order to achieve full houses, increased box office returns, appropriate artists remuneration and a more heightened enjoyable experience for everyone.”
“Curating the artistic program ensures a balanced program of high quality work that has diverse content, genre, style and representation, and ensures a mix of established, mid-career and emerging artists. Community events and sporting events will still be ‘open registration’,” said Artistic Director Catherine Fitzgerald.
The closing date for ‘Expressions of Interest’ is earlier than previous years to ensure improved marketing and publicity opportunities and outcomes.
