Hindley Street might be better known for late-night dance floors and neon-lit nights out, but its newest venue is bringing a far more romantic kind of after-dark energy to the city.

The Loft on Hindley, may be made for elopements but it’s lot more refined than a shotgun wedding and after months of work behind the scenes, it’s officially open, with bookings available for couples, photographers and creatives.

The brains behind The Loft on Hindley, Sally Greagen, knew from the moment she stepped into the unassuming industrial building that it had that moody, vintage, deep romantic wedding feel.

“It’s been almost six months of getting everything together and to be honest, we could keep preparing for another 12 months and still not feel quite ready,” Sally said.

Sally has had the help from her husband Sonny, and they actually eloped themselves while still having the quality photos done at a winery in McLaren Vale, giving them the best of both worlds and giving inspiration to this new offering.

“I’m just so excited that we’re finally at a stage where we can start hosting couples and get started with it all.”

The Loft’s interior is covered with exposed brick with natural light filling the space from the second story windows, creating the perfect spot for not only Sally’s photoshoots as a photographer but elopements, micro weddings and other creatives.

“I want people to come in and just fall in love with it like I have,” Sally said. “When you come in, you get a different feel than just looking at the pictures.”

“It feels warm and intimate, and just feels kind of special… I haven’t been to many places that look like this or feel like this.”

Walking up the steps from the ground floor on Hindley Street, you’d never guess what’s waiting for you on the second storey and the space is entirely what you make of it.

Sally says her next dream is to host a winter elopement in the space, leaning into its warm, moody and romantic atmosphere.

“Aside from elopements, we’re also hiring out the space to other photographers and content creators,” Sally said.

“We’ve realised it’s good for other events as well, like bridal showers, paint and sip workshops.

“It has a lot of capacity to cater to a lot of different people and industries.”

While The Loft on Hindley may still be evolving, that was always part of the point. For Sally, the space was never meant to feel perfect, polished or traditional.
