FIRST LOOK: French providore Les Deux Coqs unveils third store in Adelaide Hills

Popular French providore Les Deux Coqs officially opens its third and most comprehensive store yet in the Adelaide Hills.

Imagining walking past a classic French providore, with the smell of freshly baked croissants wafting through its crimson door, only to remember you’re in the Adelaide Hills and not the ‘Land of Franks’.

That’s a reality for those in Stirling, as Les Deux Coqs officially opens its third and most comprehensive store yet.

“We’re very excited to finally open… We think it will bring something really beautiful to the area,” co-owner Katia Vincon tells Glam Adelaide.

The French providore, owned by Katia and her husband Bastien Verslype, has already won the hearts of food enthusiasts across Adelaide, with roots starting in the Adelaide Central Market in 2018.

The journey from a humble market stall to their now third store has been nothing short of impressive for the pair. Their passion for sharing the flavours of their homeland with Australia led them to establish their first shop in the Central Market, where they quickly gained a devoted following.

The couple’s new store features an expanded range of their offerings, encompassing a rich selection of charcuterie, patisserie delights, and pantry essentials, including their renowned bestsellers like the irresistible lemon meringue tart and crème brûlée.

“Because we’ve got more experience now, this new store is even more beautiful than our other two and we’re really proud of how it’s turned out,” Katia says.

“This time we’ve created an intimate space with eight cosy seats near a charming window-style bar, which is perfect for enjoying one of our desserts or a croissant paired with our authentic Italian coffee.”

As soon as you walk up to the bright red door which welcomes you into the classic French providore, you can see how fun and authentic they have made the new Les Deux Coqs look.

The teal colouring which is plastered on both its interior and exterior is warm and inviting, and acts as the perfect backdrop for the stacked pantry products which line the walls floor to ceiling. The baroque style tiles add the perfect finishing touch.

On Les Deux Coqs’ opening day this Saturday the 7th of October, there will be special offers to celebrate its official opening.

You can enjoy things like large tarts (which they usually only sell in individual size), its famous strawberry tart which will be back, the pink praline tart, strawberry delice, its special charcuterie products (smallgoods) and VIP pate croute which is made for special occasions only and with highly selected ingredients such as figs, generous piece of foie gras, duck marinated with Armagnac and fine stuffing.

The location for the brand’s new store is not a surprise. Stirling has been a particularly special place for Les Deux Coqs as for the past two years, the brand has been trading at the Stirling Laneways Markets.

“Stirling is so nice, it almost looks like Europe so it’s a great match for us. Every time we go to the markets, we have more and more customers and we’ve been able to build a great community here,” adds Katia.

“We’ve received a great welcome from the Stirling community and surrounding businesses, we even got a call from the Adelaide Hills Association saying people were really excited to have us onboard which has been really motivating.”

Despite the exciting expansion, Les Deux Coqs remains committed to their loyal customers, assuring them that their presence at the Central Market and at its 20ft shipping container in Rundle Mall will continue.
