The Lobethal Hotel, a locally loved icon, which sits on the towns main street has been quietly transforming its outdoor beer garden for nearly a month.

What was essentially a grass patch with a pergola is now a fully decked out spot with seating, wine barrels and shades, offering an outside spot we all love in a local pub.

When owner Travis Blundell took over the hotel three years ago, it was essentially just a backyard for the previous owners.

“We invested in cleaning it up, and creating a licenced space that appeals to families and general customers who enjoy outdoor spaces,” Travis said.

“It’s frequently booked for all types of private functions.”

“It’s become a safe, secure, modern space with TVs, music, and a grassy area for kids to run around.”

There’s a real warmth to the new space, with a long timber deck leading guests through a pergola draped in fairy lights before opening into a uncoverd beer garden area.

Wine barrels double as tables, umbrellas offer extra shelter, and the soft orange glow from outdoor heaters and built-in stair lighting gives the whole backyard a relaxed, inviting feel.

Soon to join the new line up is blinds and ceiling fans to keep the outside an area that can be fully functional all year round.

“Growing up in the area and having two young kids ourselves, we noticed Lobethal transitioning into a younger demographic,” Travis said.

“We identified the need to offer an outdoor space where parents can bring their kids, and keep them entertained.”

For the locally loved venue, the new space means it completes the ultimate pub experience with all day ding, seven days a week. For decades the hotel has been a spot where the community gathers, teams come after the game and stories are told over the wooden bar top.

“Our sports bar features all the live sport, with 12 cold beers on tap and a clean, comfortable 70 seat dining room, SipnSave bottleshop and now a spacious beer garden.”

To celebrate the new and improved space, the Lobethal Hotel will be partying at their third birthday event on June 28.
