Sometimes, a road trip and a few quiet nights away are exactly what you need to reset. With the final touches now complete on four new Tiny Houses at Coonawarra Bush Holiday Park, there is another reason to pack your bags and head for South Australia’s Limestone Coast.
The four new stays include two single-storey houses and two double-storey houses. They join the park’s existing accommodation village, bringing its total collection of Tiny Houses to eight.
Husband-and-wife owners Qin and Stephen have perched the new properties on a small hill overlooking the park, giving guests elevated views across the surrounding vineyards and bushland.
“Initially we had the Tiny Houses just around the bush area, to give people the real experience of living next to the authentic Australian bushland,” Qin said.
The new additions take a slightly different approach, placing guests closer to the neighbouring vineyards while maintaining the peaceful bush setting that has become part of the park’s appeal.
Each single-storey house includes a queen-sized bed, kitchenette, full bathroom and air conditioning. Outside, guests have their own fire drum, creating a cosy place to settle in as the sun goes down.
The double-storey stays offer additional living space, with a queen-sized bedroom upstairs and a lounge area downstairs. A pull-out couch provides room for extra guests, while the separate living area creates a comfortable spot for conversation, reading or a board game night.
The different layouts and clean timber accents make the houses ideal for couples planning a romantic weekend, friends looking to explore the wine region or anyone seeking a quiet escape from their usual routine.
The park sits next to heritage-listed bushland with walking tracks, giving visitors another way to explore the property. Guests can open spot kangaroos and wombats waddling through the surrounding landscape. Qin said they’re considering new ways to incorporate wildlife into the guest experience.
When night falls, the region’s quiet country setting offers another reason to head outside. Guests can gaze at the Milky Way from their Tiny House and enjoy peaceful surroundings away from Adelaide’s city noise and lights.
While each Tiny House accommodates only a small number of guests, their positioning within the village also makes them suitable for larger groups travelling together.
“Our advantage is we have four in each group, so if you come with family or friends, we have plenty of options,” Qin said.
Alongside the Tiny Houses, the holiday park offers glamping tents, cabins, caravan sites and camping options, allowing groups to stay close together while choosing the accommodation style that suits them best.
“And if your other family members want to do something else like glamping, you can choose other options within the park.”
Large communal barbecue areas provide another place for guests to gather for shared meals and a relaxed evenings outdoors. The park has also become the setting for memorable celebrations, with some couples even choosing the property as the place to get engaged.
Qin and Stephen also operate Coonawarra Discovery, offering shuttle services and private BMW tours throughout the wine region. Guests can choose from full or half-day itineraries, allowing them to relax and explore Coonawarra’s wineries and attractions without having to drive.
For those who like the idea of waking beside the vines, discovering Coonawarra by day and ending the evening around a fire beneath the stars, the new Tiny Houses offer a charming base for a Limestone Coast escape.
