If you’ve been sitting on the fence about buying your first home, thinking you need a bigger deposit, a higher income or years more of saving, you’re not alone. After an overwhelming response to its first sold-out seminar, Blackfish Finance helped debunk these myths to a booked-out group of first home buyers looking to break into the property market. Now, Blackfish is back with another free session designed to show aspiring homeowners that getting into the property market may be more achievable than they realise.
“We sold over 60 tickets to our first seminar,” shared Blackfish Finance founder and 2026 Broker of the Year Leah Busby. “At Question time, we had over 20 questions from the attendees, and all 63 attendees stayed for the questions. Everyone was highly engaged, and the discussion was interactive. They chatted to us afterwards and asked to book meetings. It went really well.”
Following the success of the first event, the award-winning finance brokerage has announced a second free seminar, giving more South Australians the chance to learn from industry experts and ask the questions they can’t always find answers to online.
The one-hour seminar is all about replacing confusion with confidence, breaking down the buying process into practical, easy-to-understand steps that help attendees make informed decisions about their future.
The seminar covers everything from borrowing capacity and lender requirements through to deposits, government assistance schemes, pre-approvals and understanding how different banks assess applications. Attendees will also learn about guarantor options, making offers, inspections and the steps involved once they’ve found the right property.
Leah, who has more than 18 years of experience across home loans, investment lending, commercial finance and financial planning, says every buyer’s situation is different, and that’s why understanding the process early can make all the difference. “We empower everyone with a plan to buy their first home, most people can start quicker than they think.”
And while based in Glenelg, Blackfish helps clients across all of South Australia and the country, with their client journey delivered via Teams meetings at times that work for you.
The seminar also highlights that buying a home isn’t necessarily about having a perfect financial position today. Instead, it’s about understanding what lenders are looking for and creating a realistic plan to get there.

“The seminar was great. The way it was explained, laid out, made it so much easier,” shared an attendee from the first event.
Another said they’d “100 per cent recommend this to anyone who wants to know more, or where to start.”
With another strong response expected following the first seminar’s success, those interested are encouraged to register early.
