The Wolf Blass Event Centre at Morphettville Racecourse has officially opened its doors after a year of meticulous construction. This stunning and intelligently designed venue promises to be Adelaide’s finest and most contemporary function space, poised to host a wide range of events for local, national, and international audiences.

Named in honour of the legendary wine figure, Wolf Blass, whose philanthropic and commercial contributions have left an indelible mark on South Australia, the Wolf Blass Event Centre embodies the spirit of excellence and sophistication.

Grant Mayer, CEO of Morphettville, expressed his excitement about the new development and its significance within Adelaide’s event landscape. He emphasised that Morphettville Racecourse, often referred to as a “sleeping giant” in the realm of event spaces, is now perfectly positioned as a premier destination for various occasions.

“It’s really an urban oasis with so much space and flex to create any experience our guests are looking to design,” says Mayer. “With this opening we really are living the vision we’ve set to achieve for this organisation, transforming Morphettville into a multi-faceted, thriving destination that delivers vibrant experiences for all, including but extending beyond, racing,” Mayer said.

Morphettville Racecourse, with its strategic location nestled between the Adelaide CBD and the picturesque Glenelg, enjoys excellent accessibility, with a nearby tram stop and abundant free parking.

The event centre’s construction, completed in just over a year by Kennett Builders, marked a significant milestone for the South Australian Jockey Club (SAJC), with an investment of $21 million.

The Wolf Blass Event Centre boasts a flexible two-level interior design, offering breathtaking views of the lush grounds, racecourse, and the scenic Adelaide Hills.

The ground floor accommodates up to 350 guests, while the first floor, with its larger space, can host up to 800 attendees, depending on the preferred arrangement—be it cabaret style, theatre style, round table, or cocktail.

This architectural marvel features show-stopping 6-meter-high glass windows and a spacious, pillarless layout that delivers an awe-inspiring experience for grand galas and conferences. Simultaneously, it retains the adaptability to cater to more intimate, premium inner-sanctum-style gatherings.

The culinary offerings are a highlight, with menus meticulously crafted by the award-winning Executive Chef, Steven Clark. His team focuses on bringing the freshest seasonal produce from paddock to plate, incorporating classic French and modern cooking techniques to create dishes that delight the palate.

An extensive beverage selection showcases South Australia’s renowned wine, beer, and spirit industry, featuring established suppliers such as The Lane, Bremerton, Wirra Wirra wineries, Barossa Distilling Co Gin, Thomas Farms Food, and Riviera Bakery.

To further elevate event experiences, Encore Event Technologies has been appointed as the in-house event partner, providing innovative solutions and cutting-edge technologies tailored to each unique occasion.

“Morphettville has been an integral part of the social fabric of Adelaide and South Australia for almost 150 years. The opening of this incredible new facility creates so many opportunities to continue the legacy of Morphettville being THE destination for memorable events and entertainment; elevating us as a contemporary, renowned, must-visit asset to South Australia,” Mayer said.
