FIRST LOOK: Trackside glamping lands at The Bend bringing NASCAR-style luxury in an SA first

The Bend has unveiled South Australia’s first NASCAR-style luxury trackside camping tents, launching on pit straight for its spring motorsport events.

Shell V-Power Motorsport Park has unveiled a new trackside accommodation experience, with Deluxe Tents launching at The Bend ahead of its biggest-ever spring event season.

The new tents are being pitched along pit straight, giving motorsport fans the chance to stay right in the heart of the action with direct access to the racing, their own big screen and a private grandstand reserved for Deluxe Tent guests.

The experience is being described as a first for South Australia, bringing NASCAR-style trackside luxury camping to The Bend from September.

Each Deluxe Tent comes fully fitted and ready to stay in, with a real bed, soft furnishings, lounge seating and lighting. Guests will also have access to fire-pit social zones, food and beverage options and the atmosphere of trackside camping, without needing to bring the gear or set up camp themselves.

Shell V-Power Motorsport Park CEO Alistair MacDonald said the Deluxe Tents set a new benchmark for trackside accommodation in South Australia.

“There is nowhere closer to the action in this state. You are camped on pit straight, you have your own big screen and your own grandstand — you never miss a moment,” Mr MacDonald said.

“We have listened to our fans. They love staying trackside, but they also want extra comfort along with a great view. You arrive, you walk in, and everything is done. It is the kind of experience you would normally have to travel interstate for, and now it is here at The Bend.”

The Deluxe Tents will be the most exclusive option within The Bend’s new Start-Line infield camping precinct. Only nine are available, making them a strictly limited option for major event weekends.

The Start-Line precinct is positioned opposite the trackside hotel and close to core amenities, placing guests near pit straight and the main event action. Fans wanting the same trackside position without a tent can also book one of 34 limited infield caravan sites.

Every Start-Line campsite includes unreserved access to the Pit Straight Grandstand Block C and up to six day passes, allowing guests with valid event tickets to join the site and watch the racing together.

Demand is already strong, with more than half of all AirTouch 500 camping already sold. This includes sites across the Northern Apex, Horizon and Start-Line infield precincts.

The Deluxe Tents can also be adapted into glamping packages for corporate days and stays, giving businesses a premium pit straight base for client hosting, team building, leadership retreats, incentive programs and private group experiences. Packages can also be tailored with on-track add-ons including driving experiences, track cruises and karting.

The Bend’s location near Australia’s only certified International Dark Sky Reserve also means stargazing packages can be added for an after-dark experience.

Mr MacDonald said the timing was deliberate, with the tents launching across the venue’s strongest post-winter run of events.

“We wanted to open the Deluxe Tents on our biggest stage. From the Supercars enduro through to The Bend Classic, this is the season to be here — and now you can stay right in the heart of it,” he said.

Deluxe Tents are available to book for the AirTouch 500 at The Bend, which is the first round of the Repco Supercars Championship Enduro Cup from 11 to 13 September 2026, and The Bend Classic, which will bring together country music, camping and classic motorsport across the October long weekend from 2 to 4 October 2026.

The tents sit alongside The Bend’s wider camping options, including the Northern Apex and Horizon campgrounds, infield camping, tent and swag sites and Park ‘n’ View options.
