Florence and the Machine is one of three huge international acts coming to WOMADelaide

Set to draw in massive crowds at the festival, which will run from March 10-13 2023, is Florence and the Machine and American indie folk band Bon Iver.

South Australia’s favourite 4-day festival is returning with a bang in 2023, with a host HUGE international headline acts. Florence + The Machine, Bon Iver and Place Des Anges will all grace the stage at next years event.

Set to draw in massive crowds at the festival, which will run from March 10-13 2023, Florence + The Machine will return to Adelaide following their glorious 2019 Botanic Park concert, and their 2012 sell-out show at Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

Fronted by enigmatic singer Florence Welch, the hugely influential group, renowned for their dramatic and spellbinding live shows, will headline the Saturday lineup on March 11.

This will be Florence Welch and her band’s first visit to unleash their mesmerising live show on Adelaide audiences since the pandemic and comes after Florence + The Machine announced they are returning to Australia and New Zealand playing arena shows next March as part of their global Dance Fever Tour.

Their epic sold out November 2015 tour, which featured four back to back Sydney Opera House Forecourt performances didn’t make it to Adelaide.

Bon Iver, led by singer-songwriter Justin Vernon, will perform a set that spans their 15-year career on the opening night of the festival, Friday 10 March. In 2011 their eponymous release won the Grammy for best alternative Music Album and Best New Artist. The dreamy Wisconsin outfit has gone on to be nominated a further nine times, including for Album of the Year and Record of the Year for their 2019 release

And in Australian exclusive, Place des Anges (place of angels) will perform each night of the festival transforming Botanic Park into a magical wonderland of music, acrobatics and death-defying theatrics.

Place des Anges is one of the world’s most extraordinary aerial performances featuring a host of feathered angels who dance and descend from high above the treetops and the audience in a celebratory ethereal ballet. Softly cascading feathers will fall from the heavens as the angels swirl amongst the stars and gradually descend to earth to play with the audience.

South Australian Minister for Tourism Zoe Bettison said WOMADelaide 2023 would be ‘one for the ages’.

“With interstate tourism in SA at post-pandemic record highs and more overseas tourists visiting our state, it is incredibly exciting that WOMADelaide will host the return of major international acts to ‘the world’s festival’-back to its full format! It builds on the success of the event’s return to Botanic Park this year and will attract thousands of visitors to what will be a spectacular March in Adelaide.” said Minister Bettison.
