Adelaide comedian Steve Weyland first made us forget our woes a few Fringes ago with his show Isn’t That…What’s His Name?, a succession of jokes and skits, one of which introduced the audience to a character called Sir David Atten-borrow (no guesses who Weyland was taking off). This year Sir David returns with his own show – sorry, lecture – and being a knight, gets to perform in stately Ayers House.

Sir David regales us with many interesting facts (and a little fiction) about the world’s fauna and Mankind (Australians in particular), with a special Adelaide section which is cutting (but very true) and hilarious.

Weyland not only writes comedy well but delivers it extremely well, with a very authentic ‘real Sir David’ voice.

The show, even though funny, is very well researched and is one of the reasons (apart from Weyland himself) that the show is as entertaining as it is. Another component of this show that sets it apart from other stand-up shows is the technical aspect (slides and videos) that is handled extremely well by Theresa Dolman.

Atten-borrow, the lecture tour is slick, funny, entertaining and located in the Ballroom at Ayers House, the perfect way to get in out of the heat and enjoy the Fringe.
