Giant strawberries are in season and here’s where to find them

Strawberry season has kicked off with a bang this year, with massive strawberries spotted at the Adelaide Central Market and Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market.

The picture was recently posted to the Adelaide Central Market Facebook page and quickly sent strawberry fanatics across the state into a strawberry-induced frenzy.

The picture in question depicts an intimidating pile-up of succulent strawbs snapped at Aubergine’s – Adelaide Central Market, stall 57.

Have a look for yourself:

The Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market is also teeming with first season strawberries (many of them giant) and the launch of a limited edition Christmas gin by Ginny Pig Distillery.

The possibilities are endless with these strawberries. Just one could probably help you make an entire strawberry cheesecake, or maybe even a jar’s worth of strawberry jam (don’t quote us on this).

The strawberries look as if they are of the sumo variety, a bigger than usual variety that sees strawberries grow to (almost) the size of apples.
