Glenside pizzeria Bar38 reopens with fully licenced bar

The pizza bar is back with a fresh menu, exciting cocktails, and a sleek fit out after it was closed down last year by COVID.

An apple crumble cocktail with our pizza? Yes please.

Glenside pizzeria Bar 38 has reopened with a fully licensed bar and a fresh, pizza-focused menu after initially closing in May, 2020 due to COVID-19.

The bar reopened with 12 pizza options, entrees to compliment the pizzas, desserts, and a bar with a wine list, beers, ciders, and cocktails.

Cocktails include espresso martinis, raspberry mojitos, and an apple crumble cocktail with honey and apple Schnapps.

Guests can drink while they enjoy Mesiano wood oven pizzas, such as the “carne” meat lovers pizza, the prosciutto and rocket pizza, and the tre formaggi with fresh thyme. There are also smaller plates, such as smoked potato and bacon croquettes, a cheese board, a cured meats plate, and a chicken liver plate.

Co-owner Lewis Goodridge says Bar 38 has a focus on local ingredients.

“Our food is ‘paddock to plate,’ with locally sourced meats, cheeses, and veggies,” he says.

“It’s all local, and there’s a story behind everything we sell and have in the shop.”

The pizza bar has a contemporary fit out inspired by the vibes and layouts of Melbourne late night pizza bars and cocktail lounges. It has a modern and intimate feel, and is located on the the lot at 308 Greenhill Road, which has previously hosted many other successful cafés and bars.
