Hahndorf-based chocolate shop and cafe, Chocolate @ No. 5, is closing its storefront this December 19 after serving the locale all things chocolate and sweets for over a decade.

Chocolate @ No. 5 is known for its decadent hot chocolates and artisan chocolate treats, brought to you in the bones of an original stone cottage on Hahndorf’s main street, which it has called home for the past 12 years.

Owner Alison Peak said this is not the end for the Chocolate @ No. 5 brand, with the wholesale side of the business growing, and revamping its online store, set to go live in January 2022.

“It is time for a change,” Alison said.

“The wholesale division of the business has been expanding quickly, with more retailers coming on board every month, so I will be concentrating on that.

“Of course it will be sad to close the doors, but I am really looking forward to the change.

“It has been a great 12 years.”

Alison said she is eager to have weekends to herself so she can spend more time with family. However, no need to worry if you’re a regular at the Hahndorf chocolate haven! Customers can be assured that Peak’s chocolate treats will still be available for purchase online and from a growing pool of retailers across South Australia.

With Christmas right around the corner, there’s never been a better time to fill your stockings with sweet treats from Chocolate @ No.5. Now that the business has switched up to a digital shop, Adelaidians can shop ’til they drop online and purchase the chocolate goodies the business is known and loved for.

While Chocolate @ No.5 is saying goodbye to the Hahndorf locale, there’s still plenty of hidden gems for locals and visitors to discover this summer. A step away from the usual suspects synonymous with Hahndorf, the stunning Hills location is home to distilleries like Ambleside, cellar doors like Laundhaus Wines and quaint cafes like Thiele’s Shop.

You can find the online store here, or visit the cafe at 5 Main Street, Hahndorf, before December 19.
