Looking for the perfect winter escape? Nestled amongst the trees and on the bank of the Aldgate Valley Creek is a private, secluded, self-contained cottage, decked out with its own kitchenette, wood fireplace and outdoor claw foot bathtub.

“The place is perfect all year-round, from the changing colours of the leaves in autumn to fresh leaves coming through in Spring. But, it’s Winter that’s the most fantastic time of year to visit,” owner Vanessa says.

Located only 20 minutes up the SE Freeway, the private property comes equipped with one bedroom (in it sits a luxury queen bed), ensuite bathroom, lounge room, kitchenette, reverse cycle A/C and more.

Plus, each morning you get a special breakfast often including delicious bacon, eggs, milk, tea, juice and more – with it able to be catered to your diary requirements.

It’s the ideal location for a romantic getaway or a nature lover’s escape.

“As soon as you walk onto the property you instantly relax. Everyone who comes here always lets out a breathe of air and says ‘wow’,” Vanessa remarks.

It’s especially easy to feel serene from the properties outdoor bathtub which is nestled on the deckin under a bunch of fairy lights, looking out over the creek and into what looks like a lush rainforest.

“It’s magical out there as you sit and take in the sounds of the birds and the creek flowing past, there’s nothing like it,” she says.

Vanessa has been looking after the property for over 7 years, with it being known as a Bed & Breakfast for over 13. Over time it’s had many stories to tell, including that it was once propositioned to be a silver mine. There’s shafts around the property where they originally searched for the metal but didn’t garner a lot of success.

Aldgate Valley Bed & Breakfast is the perfect location to create more interesting stories, with it being close to Stirling and Hahndorf and a bunch of other towns with fantastic experiences, wineries and eateries.

“The Adelaide Hills are spectacular. The biggest drawcard is that you’re so close to the city yet feel like miles away in a different world,” Vanessa says.

A lot of guests are repeats who can’t get enough of the fact that you can escape all the noise of life only a pin-drop away from the CBD.
