There’s nothing better than starting the day with a warm cup of coffee paired with a chapter of the exciting novel that you are currently obsessing over.
Booklovers and coffee fanatics listen up, your worlds collide with the new Script & Bean café! Nestled in the corner of the popular book outlet Dymocks’ Rundle Mall location – a stunning heritage-listed building. Script and Bean is set to become your go-to coffee spot in the CBD.
Within the Dymocks at Regent Arcade is a welcoming space boasting floor-to-ceiling windows. Perfect for longingly staring out while you have a main character moment as you sip on a warm cup of coffee or one of 10 signature hot chocolates.
The cozy space embraces the bookshop vibe. Side tables made out of wooden books and a clock completely made out of books, immerse the customer.
Grab an expertly crafted coffee alongside a delectable treat perfect for any mood. Everything from a refreshing summer salad to a hearty bowl of soup for a cool winter day.
Enjoy light meals made with the freshest ingredients. Local cakes and cookies with a vast array of vegan and gluten-free options.
“Simple food just done well,” says owner Annie-Marie Thornhill.
For the last several years, Anne has been hard at work serving fresh coffee to the community of Happy Valley out of her mobile coffee initiative, winning the tender at the Happy Valley Reservoir.
The new space came by a chance encounter on a random Friday night last year.
“I had actually popped into Dymocks to pick up a book for my daughter, I was that typical last customer of the night when I just saw this beautiful vacant space with the beautiful arch windows, something just clicked,” Anne-Marie Thornhill said.
“I went home and began madly googling who to get in contact with and found Dymocks head of operations in Sydney and just asked would they like me to put a cafe in that empty space. Nine months later, here we are.”
The café highlights the importance of family throughout the new business venture. Owner Anne’s husband said goodbye to his defence industry career of 30 years, to help run the cafe’s operations.
“We are all in, it’s a chance that we are prepared to risk and make it work,” Anne said.
“My son loves all things coffee since he was about 11 so he will be working behind the counter whenever he can, my daughter will also come in when she can, it’s going to be really exciting.”
Script & Bean took to social media to announce their opening, “The wait is over, Script & Bean cafe is now part of the Dymocks Adelaide family,” says the Script & Bean team.
“Lots of people to thank in making this happen Workforce BluePrint Patio Coffee Roasters Dymocks Adelaide Rundle Mall & the much needed support of family & friends.”
The people of Adelaide have greeted the opening with excitement, expressed in the venue’s Facebook comments.
“Yay massive congratulations!! Well done. I can’t wait to come have a cuppa very soon,” says Facebook commenter Julie.
“Amazing, well done and congratulations! Wishing you huge success,” says Facebook commenter Elana.
“We are so happy as a family business to be bringing you great coffee & a welcoming atmosphere in such a fabulous setting,” says Anne.
