International airline takes top honour at Australian Aviation Awards

The International Airline of the Year has been crowned at the Australian Aviation Awards, celebrating a year of major investment in technology, customer experience and operations.

AirAsia has once again claimed its place among the aviation industry’s best, taking home the International Airline of the Year award at the Australian Aviation Awards for the third time.

The accolade recognises the airline’s efforts over the past 12 months to improve customer experience, operational efficiency and workplace culture, while continuing to expand its reach as one of the world’s leading low-cost carriers.

The win comes after a year of significant investment across the AirAsia business, particularly in digital technology and artificial intelligence, with the airline introducing new tools designed to streamline the travel experience from booking through to arrival.

“Winning Airline of the Year – International at the Australian Aviation Awards for a third time is an incredible honour and recognition of the work our Allstars have put into continually improving the experience we deliver for our guests,” shared AirAsia X General Manager Benyamin Ismail.

Over the past year, AirAsia has focused heavily on modernising its operations, with major upgrades to its AirAsia MOVE website and app aimed at making travel planning faster, simpler and more personalised. The airline has also embraced AI-powered technology to improve customer service and optimise operations behind the scenes.

“We are continuously optimising our operations to find efficiencies, allowing us to remain competitive so we can stay true to our mission of making travel accessible to everyone,” he said.

While technology has been a major focus, the airline’s success ultimately comes down to its people.

Benyamin credited AirAsia’s workforce, known as “Allstars”, for driving innovation and delivering the customer experience that continues to earn international recognition.

“None of what we’ve achieved would be possible without our people. Our Allstars come to work every day united by a shared ambition to make AirAsia the world’s most connected low-cost airline,” he said.

Australia continues to play a key role in AirAsia’s global network, with the airline describing the market as one of its most important international destinations.

In 2025, the AirAsia Group carried more than 68 million passengers across a network of more than 150 destinations, reinforcing its position as one of the world’s largest low-cost airline groups.

With continued investment in technology, a growing network and a strong focus on affordable travel, AirAsia is showing no signs of slowing down as it continues to strengthen its presence in Australia and across the Asia-Pacific region.
