Parts of Adelaide were left under water on Sunday as intense rainfall swept across the city and Adelaide Hills, flooding roads, creeks, sporting grounds and properties after hours of wild winter weather.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a series of severe thunderstorm warnings throughout Sunday, August 9, as heavy rainfall brought the threat of flash flooding across metropolitan Adelaide and surrounding regions.
While the immediate severe thunderstorm threat has eased, Adelaide is in for another wet Monday, with the Bureau forecasting a 95 percent chance of showers, around 2–6mm for much of the metropolitan area and southwesterly winds of 25–35km/h before conditions ease later in the day.
With flooding still affecting parts of Adelaide, the SES is urging people to never drive, ride or walk through floodwater, to keep clear of creeks and storm drains, and to call 132 500 for emergency flood assistance or Triple Zero (000) in a life-threatening emergency.
