A new Asian-influenced fine dining restaurant, TaiNam, is coming to Thebarton with two expert chefs at the helm.
TaiNam is the creation of Hugo and Hannah, who have spent years designing intimate dining experiences for private clients, events and functions.
Hailing from Taiwan and Vietnam respectively, the pair say their cultures have shaped their shared love of food and the dining experiences they create.
Their work as private chefs taught them how to deliver thoughtful, highly personal meals from even the smallest kitchens. Now, they are bringing that creativity and attention to detail into a permanent restaurant of their own.
“The purpose of TaiNam is to share the beauty and diversity of Asian cuisine through a modern dining experience,” Hannah said.
Their past menus have included tea-smoked duck inspired by the Taiwanese dish Chai Poh Ya, served with ginger and goji berries, as well as highly marbled MB9+ Wagyu paired with black garlic and Taiwanese shacha sauce.
Desserts have followed the same approach, including a reimagined ginger pudding with autumn pear and Earl Grey cream.
“We want to create dishes that tell stories, celebrate different cultures, and bring people together through memorable food experiences.”
TaiNam menu will dive straight into an Asian-inspired dining experience “that combines heritage, creativity, and modern techniques.”
The menu will feature a mixture of South Australia produce and familiar Asian flavours with their own twist.
“Coming from Taiwan and Vietnam, we are naturally influenced by our own cultures, but we also celebrate the incredible diversity of Asian cuisine bringing together flavours, techniques, and stories from across Asia while showcasing the beautiful produce of South Australia.”
Expect the unexpected with new and creative presentations that add both a excitement and comfort for diners.
“Our drinks selection will feature carefully chosen South Australian wines and beverages designed to complement the flavours of our menu.”
After years of private dining, events and functions, having a place to call home is a natural part of the journey for Hannah and Hugo.
“We want to bring that same personal connection into our restaurant and share the beauty of Asian cuisine with the people of Adelaide and Australia,” Hannah said.
Even the name of the restaurant is a direct representation of the two cultures combining, Taiwan and Vietnam.
“It also represents our vision of bringing together the diverse flavours and stories of Asia through food.”
From just a small kitchen, to catering for multiple different events and creating an experience deeply personal, it’s safe to say TaiNam will being the same attention to detail into a permanent home.
The team have just completed a test menu night, which Hannah was super happy with and the team are more excited than ever to share the venue with Adelaide.
TaiNam will be open for lunch and dinner services, but you’ll have to keep an eye out on their socials for more about their grand opening.
