Interview: Luke Million Chats Stranger Things Theme, Love For Arnold Schwarzenegger & More

EDM artist Luke Million chats with us about his upcoming Adelaide show, and shares a little more about his career and life.

Ahead of his gig at Fat Controller, Adelaide boy, Luke Million spoke to us about being back on home ground.

The electronic dance artist exploded on to the scene when he released a cover of the Netflix series Stranger Things theme which pretty much blew up overnight.

“I was totally blown away by the reaction to the initial video and the subsequent remix I made. I love the series and I love synths so it made perfect sense to explore the inspiration that was created from binge watching that first season.”

“The most direct result from it is that I have been able to share my music with an even broader audience all over the world. I did get the opportunity to hang out with Millie and I was amazed that someone so young possessed so such maturity and talent.”

Luke is excited to perform at his hometown again this Friday and he’s promised that he’ll play some old classics and also some new songs – including his new single ‘Heard It On The Radio’ featuring Asta.

Luke uses the synthesiser to create his music and says he loves the character you get from vintage synthesisers.

“They all have little imperfections which give an organic element that can’t be replicated.”

“There is the nostalgia associated with these synths being used on so many classic records, but what I absolutely love is channeling these classic soundscapes and bringing them into now and making them something new and fresh.”

Luke was surprised by the popularity of his Stranger Things cover, saying he’s a huge fan of the series so he made the song out of love. He did get the opportunity to hang out with Millie Bobby Brown because of it.

Luke can’t wait to perform at Fat Controller. He also shouted out his love for Adelaide saying there’s great beaches, beautiful countryside, so many wineries, amazing restaurants and bars.

If you check out Luke’s Instagram, you’ll see his love for Arnie
(Arnold Schwarzenegger), which he believes he had a bit of a man-crush on when he was growing up.

“I think I had every single film of his on VHS, then on DVD. I really admired his story of coming from humble beginnings to achieving success in so many areas.”

When asked about his favourite place to perform, he said he loved performing at Seoul, South Korea.

“I was in South Korea a couple months ago and played at an amazing club called Soap in Seoul. The energy in that room was so crazy and seeing the crowd having so much fun just made it the best night ever.”

“I have a feeling that this upcoming tour in Australia will be the new highlight though.”

He’s also excited to show off his vintage key-tar to his Adelaide fans this tour.
