After three consecutive sold-out seasons and more than five years of captivating Adelaide audiences, Jagged Little Pill: FULL DOSE returns to its spiritual home, The Gov, for one powerful night only.
This coming Friday, 10th July, South Australian producer, vocalist and creator Rachel Vidoni is bringing her acclaimed live tribute to Alanis Morissette back to the stage where it all began.
Rachel spoke to Glam Adelaide about the show, her love for Alanis’s music and the iconic album Jagged Little Pill as well as sharing with us where her love of performing grew from.
“I started out having dance lessons, and then that led to things like musical theatre. Someone early on mentioned that I had a pretty good voice and I started having singing lessons. Here I am thirty years later and I’m absolutely loving that I get to live the performing dream.”
We asked Rachel what draws her to Alanis Morissette’s music.
“For me, it’s always kind of been the songwriting. Alanis was 19 when she released Jagged Little Pill and we have to remember how young she was and how vulnerable she was. She wrote with an honesty that was brave at the time for her age – she wasn’t trying to be perfect. She was telling her truth. The album Jagged Little Pill has all the elements: anger, humour, vulnerability and strength. It has all of these within the one album. I think that’s why so many people have connected with it. It’s why I connected with it and it’s been 31 years later and I still love it.”
Since launching in Adelaide more than five years ago, Jagged Little Pill: FULL DOSE has grown into one of South Australia’s most successful tribute productions, attracting a loyal following and selling out seasons in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Featuring beloved anthems including You Oughta Know, Hand In My Pocket, Ironic, You Learn, Head Over Feet and more, FULL DOSE captures the raw emotion, honesty and intensity that made Alanis Morissette’s breakthrough album a cultural phenomenon.
“As a female in the music industry you feel that there are times that you feel unheard or misunderstood. I think Alanis put everything out there so honestly; it was so raw that I just connected with it instantly. She gave a voice to young women and to people like me in the music industry.”
For anyone who has seen the Fringe favourite show Primal, you would be familiar with incrediblly moving and powerful vocals from Leather Lungs. For FULL DOSE, Leather Lungs will be joining Rachel.
“We haven’t worked together before but we both sort of have admired each other from a distance over the years during the Adelaide Fringe. The closest we ever got was sharing a change room during a Gluttony’s Winter Arts Festival where I was launching my Queen show, Her Majesty, and Leather Lungs was in a variety show and just happened to be singing Somebody To Love in that show. We had a big laugh about who can sing it better. We have tried over the years to line up a gig together, but the stars never aligned. For Full Dose, I had actually written a custom piece that’s like an opening and had strong male vocals in it, and I was trying to work out who I could get to come in and sing it. I was driving home from work one day and Leather Lung popped into my head. I contacted them and they happened to be free. They’ll also do some other special guest performances in the show as well. I honestly can’t wait for them to be part of the show.”
The evening will also feature a special support performance from Zkye Compson-Harris & Band, one of South Australia’s most exciting emerging artists. Known for her powerful vocals, authentic songwriting and captivating stage presence, Zkye will set the tone for an unforgettable night of live music before audiences are immersed in the full Jagged Little Pill experience
Presented by The Little Things Productions, FULL DOSE celebrates one of the most influential albums of the 1990s with a high-energy live performance of Jagged Little Pill in its entirety, performed by a powerhouse live band and fronted by Vidoni’s commanding vocals.
“I want people to come in and let go of whatever life is throwing at them and just connect with one another. That’s my job, and I want to keep doing my job. Every time I perform I give a little piece of myself away but it’s one of those few avenues where a group of people can share that one moment together and have a wonderful experience together.“
