Riverleas’ major retail hub is about to open, with The Palms Shopping Village set to bring morning coffee, groceries, dining, fitness, beauty, childcare and everyday services to one of Adelaide’s fastest-growing new communities.

Already being dubbed ‘The Palms,’ the new shopping precinct is set to open this June within one of South Australia’s best master planned developments. Riverlea Park sits near Port Gawler and is planned as one of South Australia’s biggest new residential communities.

Once fully completed the community will include more than 450 hectares of open space, including parks, lakes and walking trails, and with lakes and waterways large enough to fill 440 Olympic-size swimming pools, it’ll be pretty scenic.

The project is being run by Walker who says the centre is a testament to their commitment to provide residents with everything they may need within minutes of leaving the house.

Besides new childcare and both private and public education, The Palms Shopping Village is the next major step in the new community’s timeline.

The vision is to bring locals in the heart of Riverlea a once stop place to shop, exercise and of course, socialise.

The centre’s directory includes Coles, Priceline Pharmacy and Liquorland for daily essentials, Local Crowd for coffee and casual dining, Anytime Fitness for those squeezing movement into a busy schedule, and Paisley Park Early Learning Centre for local families.

Beauty and wellbeing will also be covered, with Amitra & Co, Jennifer Carly Aesthetic Medicine, Kingsmen Hair and Nou Nails rounding out the offering.

Included in the hospitality offering is an expansion of a Colonel Light Gardens crowd favourite cafe. Local Crowd is set to come to the new space, with it’s signature cafe staples like croissants, avo on toast and great coffee.

The venue will be double the size of it’s offering in Colonel Light Gardens but still stay true to its heritage charm that regulars know and love.

When Glam talked to owner Arun Singh back in August 2025 he said the new community would be a perfect spot for a new venue.

“The more we got to know about what the vision was for Riverlea, the more we realised what we currently do at Colonel Light Gardens would be a perfect fit,” Arun told us.

“In terms of our community engagement, friendly vibes, daily laughs with residents and friendly service, we hope to be replicate the Colonel Light Gardens store, where we can say we are an integral part of the community,” he said.

The Palms will celebrate its opening weekend on June 27 and 28 from 11am to 2pm, where visitors can try the gumball machine for the chance to win instant prizes, including retailer gift cards, coffees, freshly baked cookies and more.

But to take part visitors will need to download and sign in to The Palms App, which is required to redeem prizes and access member rewards.
