Australians now have a new Electric Vehicle (EV) option, thanks to the arrival of the CUPRA Born, which blends style, performance and sustainable materials in a head turning EV hatch-back.

Lifestyle brand CUPRA today announced the arrival of the brand’s first 100% electric model, set to become the impulse of a new era in the EV market.

It comes at a time when interest in electric vehicles is accelerating. In the first two months of 2023, sales of EVs were up more than 780 per cent on the same period in 2022. In fact sales of EVs are almost on par with hybrids (10,784 v 10, 852).

Boasting both style and substance, the CUPRA Born provides the perfect match between electrification and performance, leading the brand’s expansion and roadmap to becoming fully electrified by 2030.

According to CUPRA Australia Brand Director, Ben Wilks, the CUPRA Born offers Australians an affordable, yet stylish EV option, and will appeal to those who not only like to stand out from the crowd, but are mindful of the footprint they leave in their purchasing decisions.

“Australians have more choice than ever when it comes to EVs, but what sets the CUPRA Born apart is its unmissable aesthetic, from copper trims and badge, to striking metallic paint options and a sleek aerodynamic design, coupled with an electrifying performance, zero tailpipe emissions and up to 511 KMs* of range from a single charge,” said Mr Wilks.

“CUPRA in Australia has developed a buying process that matches digital convenience with the emotion and feeling  only delivered by human interaction in our design-oriented showrooms. Unique in our segment we offer customers the option to process their sale and finance application all online, whether in their home or in one of the nine CUPRA Garage locations operated by our agents around the country,” he added.

Designed in Barcelona, at CUPRA’s headquarters in Martorell, and named after the edgy urban neighbourhood El Born, the CUPRA Born is the essence of European cutting-edge.

The creation of the CUPRA Born also involved a partnership with the SEAQUAL® INITIATIVE, the collaborative community fighting plastics pollution, to manufacture the standard production of the vehicle’s seats with unconventional materials made from upcycled marine plastics – a testament to the company’s commitment to beautifully blending sustainability, innovation and contemporary design.

Additional features include new technologies such as a fully digital cockpit, smart air conditioning that adjusts to the number of passengers,  as well as safety enhancements including park assist and adaptive cruise control which automatically adjusts speed to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.

The CUPRA Born builds on the existing electrified CUPRA range, with the plug-in hybrid variants of the Leon hatchback, and the Formentor Crossover SUV.

Priced from $59,990** RRP, drive away prices start from $61,990 depending on State, with some customers eligible for State based incentives reducing their outlay even further.
