A new era is among Goolwa staple, Motherduck after an incredible 10 years, the team have announced it’s time for a fresh set of eyes to take over the cafe.
Taking to social media to make the announcement, Mel and the team expressed their gratitude to locals and surrounds for their magnificent run.
“This post comes with so many mixed emotions,” Mel said.
“After 10 years of making my dreams of owning my own cafe come true, it has now come time to close off this chapter of my life at motherduck & move onto what ever life has in store for me & my growing family next. I will be taking some well earned time off with my children and grand children who haven’t seen as much of me as I would of liked over these last 10 years before I decide where my working life will take me next.
“I just want to say a huge thank you to all of my loyal staff over the 10 years I’ve owned motherduck. You’ve all made motherduck into what it is today, and made my time at motherduck the best I could have hoped for.
“And to our amazing customers that have supported my dream for our little town of Goolwa over the past 10 years, I thank you for the business, the smiles, the friendships, the laughter and your loyalty to me and my baby, motherduck.
“Motherduck’s last trading day with me will be Thursday 19th April, with a short break before the new owners open the doors again on Tuesday 23rd April. I encourage you to support them on their journey as they find their feet at motherduck, with the same friendly staff you all know and love.
“Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, one chapter closes and another opens, it is a very bitter sweet feeling.”
Many will know motherduck for their beautiful and wholesome food using ingredients sourced from the Fleurieu region, along with bulletproof coffee. Motherduck take a classic such as pancakes to a wicked level by decking them out with loads of berries, berry sauce and coconut ice cream.
So if you’re looking for one last buckwheat pancake or halloumi burger under Mel’s guidance , head out to motherduck before April 19th!
