A routine trip for groceries has turned into a very happy day for a Norwood couple, who have scored a $100,000 Lucky Lotteries win after buying a ticket with loose change.
The Adelaide couple held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 11096, drawn on Tuesday, August 25th, landing themselves a $100,000 windfall.
The winning entry was purchased from Tusmore Trader, with the couple’s winning entry consisting of one random number.
And while the win was certainly worth celebrating, the husband revealed the ticket was very much an impulse purchase.
“I’m a bit numb! We went to Woolies the other day and I had some loose change in my pocket, so I decided to pop in and grab a small ticket for fun. I never expected to win big!” he said.
The couple were actually out enjoying a coffee when lottery officials tried to call them with the news.
After missing a couple of calls, the winner received a text urging him to check his ticket before finally answering the phone.
“Bloody oath! Thank you!” he answered.
His wife was with him when the news finally sank in, and she was apparently already thinking about what they could do with the unexpected cash.
“My wife is with me now and she is jumping up and down. I’m sure she is also thinking of ways that we can spend it too!”
While the couple are yet to decide exactly what they will do with their $100,000, there is at least one celebration already on the cards.
“We’ll see what happens tonight but I’m sure we’ll have a champagne to celebrate,” he said. “Happy days! Thank you!”
The win comes as the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot continues to climb, with the prize now sitting at $5.7 million for draw 11097.
Meanwhile, the Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot has reached $1.24 million for draw 1788.
Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot and Super Jackpot are raffle-style games, with a set number of unique tickets available in each draw. Unlike some lottery games, each ticket number is unique, meaning prizes are not shared between multiple winning tickets.
For the Norwood couple, however, a small impulse purchase has already delivered a very sizeable reason to raise a glass.
Please gamble responsibly.
