Parwana Afghan Kitchen to host Spring Equinox Dinner

Ready for a new year? We are too. It is time to celebrate Afghanistan’s New Year, with a feast at Parwana Afghan Kitchen.

Bring in Afghanistan’s New Year, traditionally known as Nawruz, at Parwana Afghan Kitchen, with a unique Nawruz feast including starters, mains, dessert and BYO wine at no additional charge.

Nawruz is celebrated on Monday 21st March, also known as the Spring Equinox and marks the first day of Afghanistan’s New Year, which symbolises optimism, solidarity and hope.

Parwana recognises that the spirit of Nawruz is undoubtedly needed at this time of uncertainty, senseless conflict and natural disaster.

As an extension of owner Durkhanai Ayubi’s family feasts, Parwana has been an Adelaide staple for over ten years. This family-run restaurant is focussed on keeping Afghan food traditions alive and creating a unique experience for restaurant goers, with an eat till you burst, hands as your knife and fork style of eating.

An Afghan meal at Parwana consists of a tower of their most-prized family recipes, boasting with aromatic spices, roasted meats, hand pulled dough and fluffy rice, all integrated together in homemade sauces. This cuisine is veiled in heat, spice and nuts, and is not just a meal, but an experience and a welcome to the wonderful culture of Afghanistan.

Parwarna hope that the people of Adelaide will share in the Nawruz spirit of gratitude and harmony, with live music, poetry and teachings on the significance of Nawruz from restaurant owner Durkhanai Ayubi.

Bookings for the Nawruz Dinner can be made on the Parwana Website, for Monday 21st March at 6:30pm.

Tickets are $100 per person, with profits raised going to partner agencies Mahboba’s Promise and Aseel. These agencies are helping vulnerable people in Afghanistan with the ongoing humanitarian crisis and critical rebuilding of communities.
