Plans progress for $20m Adelaide 36ers Arena development

The proposed redevelopment is set to transform the existing arena into a modern sports hub, complete with outdoor and indoor sport courts, a gym, and additional office and retail outlets.

Plans for the much-anticipated redevelopment of the Adelaide 36ers Arena in Findon are gaining momentum as essential reports have been submitted to the state’s planning body.

The project, spearheaded by developer and stadium owner Pelligra, aims to create a state-of-the-art sports and community facility that will enhance access to grassroots sports and accommodate a variety of events throughout the year.

The proposed redevelopment is set to transform the existing arena into a modern sports hub, complete with outdoor and indoor sport courts, a gym, and additional office and retail outlets.

The new amenities will cater to various sports, including basketball, netball, and volleyball, providing athletes and community members with top-notch facilities for training and competitions. The envisioned design also focuses on disability access and green space to ensure inclusivity and a pleasant environment for all users.

The redevelopment will carry a price tag of $20 million and includes a rebranding of the entire complex as the “Adelaide 36ers Arena” once the project is completed early next year. The development’s scale and seating capacity, accommodating up to 8000 people, could potentially pave the way for hosting national competitions in the future.

The proposed development also carries implications for sports clubs in the region. Garville Netball Club is set to find a new home base within the redeveloped Adelaide 36ers Arena, ending their current training arrangements at the Netball SA Stadium in Mile End. This relocation is expected to offer upgraded training facilities and a more conducive environment for the netball club.

Despite the ambitious vision, the Adelaide 36ers Arena redevelopment has managed to generate excitement and support from various stakeholders, including local sports enthusiasts and officials.
