Brighton has a colourful new landmark, with Soonta Brighton unveiling a vibrant new mural that brings Asian fusion, coastal living and a little Soonta magic together.
Created by artist Jiamei Xu of Haki Art Studio, the eye-catching artwork has transformed the store’s exterior with oversized Asian fusion favourites bursting through a bright red frame.
At the centre are a banh mi, a Asian fusion rice bowl and a Soonta sparkling peach tea, surrounded by fresh herbs, lime, chilli and other colourful ingredients.
Look a little closer and you’ll also spot Soonta’s Dragon Duck mascot, alongside Brighton beach references including the ocean, sunset, umbrellas and coastal buildings.
At certain times and from certain angles, the mural even reveals Dragon Duck’s superpowers.
The words ‘Brighton by the Beach’ feature throughout the artwork, tying the mural directly to its seaside home.
“Jiamei was the right fit because she understood how to translate Soonta’s food, colours and personality into a bold public artwork,” shared Alissa from the Soonta team. “The result is recognisable from the street while still feeling connected to Brighton and the local community.”

And if the new artwork has you planning a visit, there’s another reason to make the trip.
Soonta Brighton has launched an exclusive couple deal, with customers able to grab any two bowls for $29.95.
The offer includes Soonta’s range of Asian fusion-inspired rice, bun and salad bowls, making it an easy option for a lunch date, dinner with a mate or a casual post-beach feed.
“Bowls are particularly popular at this location, and the store has a strong base of returning local customers. The team also regularly welcomes couples, friends and parents visiting with their children or students from the surrounding area, so a two-bowl offer felt practical and relevant to the local audience.”

For first-timers struggling to choose, Soonta’s team recommends pairing the Bun Bowl with Roast Pork with the Rice Bowl with Lemongrass Chicken.
The Bun Bowl brings chilled vermicelli noodles and crisp salad, while the Lemongrass Chicken Rice Bowl offers a warmer, aromatic option, giving you a taste of two different Soonta styles.
You can also add house-made spring rolls and a Soonta Tea to share.
Better yet, customers who purchase the Couple Deal during August will receive a return voucher for 20 per cent off all items on their next purchase at Soonta Brighton, valid until September 30th.
“Launching the deal alongside the mural gives the community another reason to visit or rediscover the Brighton store. Customers can see the new artwork, enjoy two fresh and convenient meals together and experience the updated atmosphere of the location.”

So, whether you’re a Brighton local, heading to the beach or simply looking for a fresh lunch spot, the new mural is a pretty good excuse to swing by.
