Adelaide’s original Prohibition Liquor Co. home on Gilbert Street is getting a new lease on life, with the award-winning distillery reopening for Friday and Saturday nights filled with cocktails, gin flights, food and plenty of fun.
After six months away from regular public trade, Prohibition Liquor Co. will officially bring its Gilbert Street Distillery & Tasting Room back to life from Friday, September 18th, with its new Distillery Sessions running from 4pm until late.
The sessions are designed to give locals a reason to make a night of it, with tables available to book every Friday and Saturday from mid-September.
“We’ve genuinely missed having our doors open for our city-based customers at Gilbert Street,” shared Prohibition founder Adam Carpenter.
“We wanted to bring it back in a way that feels special — two nights a week, with great drinks, good food and plenty happening. It’s a different way of experiencing the distillery, and we can’t wait to have people back through the doors.”

The Distillery Sessions will feature plenty of Prohibition favourites, alongside new seasonal offerings.
Guests can settle in with cocktails, the full range of Prohibition G&Ts and seasonal gin flights, while the food menu will include pizzas, cheese plates and snacks. Those keen to get the most out of their gin experience can also pre-book a table and save on gin flights.
But the return of Gilbert Street isn’t just about settling in for a few drinks.
A calendar of ticketed experiences and special events will bring even more action to the distillery, with Drag Bingo, cocktail-making classes, gin-blending sessions and other Prohibition experiences already on the calendar.
More events are also set to be announced throughout the season.
For those looking for something a little different for their next celebration, Gilbert Street will also remain available for private functions and events throughout the week.
From end-of-year celebrations and Christmas parties to corporate events and private gatherings, the distillery offers a unique setting right in the heart of Adelaide.
With festive season dates already beginning to fill, those planning an event are encouraged to get in touch early.
“Gilbert Street has always been a place for people to get together, whether that’s for a couple of cocktails, a special event or a big celebration,” said Adam. “We’re excited to have the doors open again and give Adelaide another reason to come and experience our world class spirits.”
