RuPaul’s Drag Race queens to feature in vibrant Feast Festival program

The Feast Festival program has dropped, and it’s going to bring a vibrant lineup to Adelaide including international sensations.

Adelaide is gearing up to transform into a vibrant epicentre of art and culture for the grand Feast Festival 2023 this November, fondly termed ‘Pridevember.’

Today’s release of the 2023 program unveils an array of events which will no doubt captivate audiences. South Australia’s premier LGBTQIA+ event has cast its net globally, bringing in international sensations and bolstering its program with illustrious national talent.

From the stellar queens of RuPaul’s Drag Race USA and Down Under to the delightful comedic acts of Australian sensations, Christian Hull and Mitchell Coombs, Feast Festival promises to be an arts extravaganza.

The Feast Festival is South Australia’s premier LGBTQIA+ event and stands as a symbol of pride, celebrating the diverse tapestry of the rainbow community that enriches our lives with colour and joy.

The festival springs to life on November 1st with the inaugural ‘Marys in the Park’, Adelaide’s unapologetic POP music festival. Produced by ITDEVENTS, the music festival will feature an eclectic mix including Ricki-lee, the charismatic Crystal Waters from the USA, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Samantha Jade, and an array of queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race.

The opening weekend extends its charm with the beloved annual ‘Picnic in the Park’ on November 5th at Rundle Park. Complete with the new Feast Artist Stage, local culinary delights, bustling market stalls, community engagements, and the much-anticipated Feast Dog Show, it offers a melange of experiences for the entire community.

From cabaret productions such as ‘Lesbian Love Stories’ to hilarious debates in ‘Feast Comedy Debate’, the festival promises diversity. Young attendees can sparkle at the ‘Minus18 Queer Formal’, and for those seeking a unique nocturnal experience, the ‘Feast Festival Night Roof Climb’ led by drag icons offers an unforgettable skyline dance and cocktail session.

For the intellectually curious, the SA Museum will host a fascinating exploration of male anatomy in nature. Moderated by award-winning journalist Annabel Crabb, attendees will delve into intriguing facts about male lizards and echidnas, among other surprises.

Artistically, the Festival proudly presents Crisstie Jones’ evocative artwork on its program cover. A testament to the journey of healing and empowerment, Jones employs a vivid palette to craft works reminiscent of poetic narratives.

Reflecting on the festival’s evolution, the newly appointed CEO Tish Naughton said, “From my first visit in 2007 to spearheading it in 2023, Feast has been a beacon of joy and belonging. This year, we welcome all with a message of unity, kindness, and celebration of our diverse identities.”

South Australia’s Arts Minister Andrea Michaels proudly affirmed, “Our iconic Feast Festival not only elevates South Australia as the arts capital but stands as a testament to our commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community.”
