Restrictions May Lift On Monday As SA Sees 13 No New COVID-19 Days

Stating that today’s meeting had early discussions on the frameworks of the road back and tackling the unemployment crisis.

South Australia’s Premier Steven Marshall held a press conference yesterday to recap on the National Cabinet meeting that morning.

SA has seen the lowest restriction levels in the country and highest school attendance, Mr Marshall says that what’s next is the return to work efforts.

Due to our standout results, Mr Marshall says that SA may see certain restrictions lift as soon as Monday.

This Friday’s National Cabinet meeting will delve further in timings around easing restrictions.

He also spoke on the discussions regarding travel to New Zealand from this morning’s meeting which included New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

As both countries have recorded minimal COVID-19 cases, the potential for travel to NZ may occur prior to the lifting to other international travel restrictions.

Case Update

SA has recorded a landmark 13 day streak with no new COVID-19 cases yesterday. There are currently five people in SA with coronavirus, only two of which are in hospital.

SA continues to lead the nation with over 62,000 tests done since February this year.

Chief public health officer Professor Nicola Spurrier says that SA Health is working with the regions to ensure that regional travel will be available in the near future.
