South Australia’s top suburbs for tradie demand have been revealed, following a record number of home owners listing jobs for trades online last year.
Australia’s biggest online tradie marketplace, hipages experienced a huge increase across the country in people advertising for various tradesman through their platform to complete a range of home improvements.
Based on the volume of jobs posted by homeowners between the January 1 and December 31 2021, SA’s top suburbs that listed jobs for tradies include; Adelaide, Morphett Vale, Hallett Cove, Mount Barker, Paralowie, Golden Grove, Aberfoyle Park, Parafield Gardens, Prospect and Mawson Lakes.
“Post lockdown and now into the new year, demand for tradies remains at large – however, our message to homeowners is to list now for work that you’re planning, particularly if you’re in a suburb where demand is high”, hipages Chief Customer Officer, Stuart Tucker said.
“We experience a job being posted by a homeowner every 20 seconds on average, so we’re used to spikes in demand but there are some trades that are more sought after than others right now, so you want to ensure that you’re having discussions early”, he said.
The company also revealed the top trades in demand nationally on their platform over the past 12 months included handymen, plumbers, electricians, fencers, painters, cleaners, builders, concreters, tilers, and carpenters.
Looking forward, Stuart has some predictions for in-demand trades, with keeping cool said to be a top priority for many.
“Demand for air conditioning is forecast to peak as the mercury climbs. The same goes for irrigation systems and shade sail installation as homeowners look to keep their gardens hydrated and outdoors areas protected, and pest control as the creepy crawlies make their way into our homes”, he explained.
So if you’re thinking about renovating, or getting around to that job around the house you’ve left for too long, make sure you’re booking in your tradies ahead of time, and ensure the job gets done.
