Sneaky Sound System To Get Cycling Fans Moving

Acclaimed Australian dance act Sneaky Sound System is set to entertain thousands at the Santos Tour Down Under’s 15th birthday celebrations on January 19.

The ARIA award-winning duo will take the stage following the official team presentation in Victoria Square, with the FREE event open to all.

Hitaf Rasheed, General Manager, Events South Australia encouraged cycling fans and all South Australians to join the fun.

“Fifteen years of the Santos Tour Down Under in South Australia is certainly something to celebrate,” Ms Rasheed said.

“We are delighted to be welcoming Sneaky Sound System and know their collection of chart-topping hits will be a great match for this occasion.”

The Santos Tour Down Under’s 15th birthday celebrations will begin at 6pm on January 19 with the team presentation, at which all teams and riders taking part in the event will be introduced to the crowd.

Renowned cycling commentators Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen are to interview the teams on stage until 7pm, while Sneaky Sound System will perform from 7.30pm onwards.

“There is sure to be a special atmosphere in Victoria Square on the eve of the 15th Santos Tour Down Under,” Ms Rasheed said.

“This is an event that has grown from modest beginnings in 1999 to become the first stop on the UCI WorldTour – a remarkable achievement and one we look forward to acknowledging.”

Sneaky Sound System first began performing in 2004 and found widespread commercial success in 2006 with the release of their self-titled debut album.

The group regularly performs overseas and boasts hits including UFO, Pictures, I Love It and Kansas City.

Angus McDonald, one half of the popular duo said that the band was looking forward to be a part of the event celebrations.

“Adelaide crowds have always delivered the goods for us so we’re especially looking forward to playing at the Team Presentation for the 15th Santos Tour Down Under. There’s something very special about playing to big crowds, outdoors in the middle of summer…so we’re planning a cracking set to kick off the event celebrations. See you all Jan 19,” said Angus.
