South Australia’s State Emergency Service has issued a severe weather warning for multiple regions, urging residents to brace for potentially destructive conditions. The warning encompasses areas including Flinders, Mid North, Riverland, and certain parts of Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Murraylands, North West Pastoral, and North East Pastoral districts.
The Bureau of Meteorology advise that VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS are likely to produce damaging, locally destructive winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in the warning area which may threaten you and your family’s safety.
The State Emergency Service emphasizes the seriousness of the situation, which may pose a risk to individuals and properties.
What you should do:
- For SES assistance phone 132 500. If the matter is life threatening call 000 (triple zero).
- Stay indoors, away from windows while storms are occurring.
- Roads may be dangerous, do not travel unless absolutely necessary.
The potential impacts of these storms are severe. There is a significant risk posed by flying debris, and there is the possibility of trees being uprooted and power lines being downed. Structures may also suffer minor damage due to the intensity of the storms. Residents should remain alert and follow instructions issued by local authorities and emergency services to safeguard themselves and their families during this critical time.
