The Turkish Delight sweetens Adelaide CBD with new location

The Turkish Delight Mediterranean Sweetery has expanded with a new cafe and store opening on Rundle Street.

The Turkish Delight Mediterranean Sweetery has proudly unveiled its latest venture – a captivating new bricks-and-mortar store on Rundle Street.

The inspiration behind this exciting expansion stems from the success of The Turkish Delight’s presence in the Adelaide Central Market, where their delicious sweet treats have gained widespread acclaim since 2016.

Mona and Mohammad Hassan, the passionate mother-son duo behind the brand, saw an opportunity to bring their exquisite range of treats closer to the the other end of the CBD.

“We’ve been operating a stall in the Central Market, and the response has been fantastic. That’s why we decided to open a new shop. We plan to offer a unique experience with coffee and tea, especially Turkish Coffee, which will be a special feature of the shop. It will be a cozy little space,” Mona says.

Dedicated to preserving the authenticity of Mediterranean sweets, The Turkish Delight offers an extensive array of choices, including their signature Turkish Delight – gelatin-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, and suitable for vegans.

There’s everything from traditional flavours like rose and original to innovative blends such as mango, pineapple, roasted almond, tropical, berry mocktail, tutti fruity and more.

“Turkish Delight is a huge seller, it’s beloved by many! It’s suitable for vegans, and the quality is impeccable. Plus, it has a long shelf life of up to six months,” Mona says. “It’s a great alternative to a box of chocolates.”

With their own factory in Melbourne and another shop, the brand continues to spread its sweet magic across Australia.

Reflecting on the rich history of Turkish Delight, Mona highlights its origins dating back centuries, tracing its roots to Turkey and Iran in the late 18th century.

“Turkish Delight is deeply ingrained in our Mediterranean heritage, passed down through generations and generations. Its popularity has now gone worldwide,” she says.

Delving deeper into the origins of Turkish Delight, the confection’s recipe has remained almost unchanged since its inception. A cherished delicacy, it is crafted from a sugar syrup and starch milk mixture, cooked to perfection before being infused with an array of flavours and fillings.

In addition to their signature sweets, The Turkish Delight’s new CBD store boasts a charming café space, where people will be able to indulge in the authentic pleasure of Turkish coffee coming soon. A centuries-old tradition, Turkish coffee is brewed to perfection, offering a robust and aromatic experience.
