Infamous might be one of the hottest tickets at this year’s Fringe, and it’s still on until March 23rd. The flirtatious cabaret circus show has been called clever, hilarious, scary, insane, and riveting.
Brought to you by Joseph Ashton of the Ashton Circus dynasty, the show will change your perspective on circus. Forget everything you’ve seen before from circus and get ready for a saucy and spectacular take on the classic big-top performance. Here are five reasons why you can NOT miss it!
1. Five-star reviews across the board
After a stellar 2024 season that earned five-star reviews across the board, Infamous is back for an electrifying encore. Once again, this year’s Fringe audiences are showering the show with glowing praise, with another wave of five-star accolades rolling in. In a five-star Glam Adelaide review,
Rebecca Wu called the show “Funny, fearless and fiercely flirtatious! What a thrill!”
2. It has its own dedicated big top venue
Roll up roll up to the Main Stage at Infamous Theatre for an intimately crafted venue dedicated to the long-running spectacle. The Infamous Theatre sits in grassy Ellis Park on West Terrace, where there is ample parking, and all the festivities you can expect from Adelaide in March. Start with a drink at the outdoor bar before heading into the tent, where the inside bar keeps the refreshments flowing – plus snacks to match. Relax in spacious seating with plenty of airflow, keeping you cool and comfortable while you enjoy the show.
3. A family-run, multigenerational production
As you enter into the huge red and white tent, you’ll notice a number of Ashtons in the cast list. Entertaining Australian audiences for well over a century, the Ashton family dynasty traces back to James Henry Ashton, who founded the circus in Hobart in 1850. Now produced by sixth-generation performer Joseph Ashton, Infamous showcases the enduring talent, dare, and showmanship of the Ashtons.
4. You truly get up close and personal with the cast
While you’re inside the tent, the breathtaking acrobatics and theatrics will completely draw you in, but the magic doesn’t stop there. Keep an eye out during the performance – you might just spot a familiar face from the bar taking the stage! Infamous brings a lighthearted, no-pressure style of audience interaction that delivers the action up close, making you feel like part of the show. As an added bonus, you even have the opportunity to take photos with the cast following the show.
5. It’s just so much fun!
You’re in for a captivating night filled with non-stop excitement. Dazzling acrobatics seamlessly give way to bursts of humour, all woven into an enticing storyline that keeps you hooked from start to finish. You’ll find yourself giggling and gasping as acrobats soar through the air and dancers pirouette across the stage.

You’ll leave truly amazed by the sheer talent and charisma of the performers, no individual outshines another, just an amazingly cohesive, adrenaline-pumping cabaret circus show.
