Race Style Wrap brought to you by Racewear Carousel
Mother Nature turned on the weather for this year’s UBET Adelaide Cup and Morphettville was buzzing with the click clack of heels and the clip clop of hooves. Although some people go for nothing but the horses, there were a bunch of beautiful fillies that were all vying for the title of South Australian’s best dressed at MYER Fashion on the Field. The entrants didn’t disappoint with some amazing burst of colour, pops of metallic, bespoke millinery and outfits that had been meticulously tailored. This coveted title not only draws the best from around South Australia, but sees ladies from interstate coming to compete.
Within the unique line up of outfits, you could clearly see the full skirt trend on show with all of the top three ladies wearing tea length outfits. The colourful top ten featured some unique designs from floral to geometric and everything in between. Walking away with the title, over $10,000 worth of prizes and going to Melbourne Cup Day to represent South Australia was the very deserving winner Courtney Moore from Victoria. Her navy Ellery skirt and Alice McCall top were complimented by a millinery piece made by her mother from Moore Millinery.
Mel & Cat’s Fashion Finds
We went on search for some Trackside Fashion inspiration because not everyone has the time (or the money) to put into a Fashions on the Field outfit. Having a lazy Pimm’s with a group of good friends or a champagne with the girls is what many punters head to the track for. Accessories were definitely on show today in Morphettville’s newest racing precinct ‘The Starting Gate”. Here are our favourite Fashion Finds from around the track…
Among the relaxed race goers headbands and crowns adorned the heads of many ladies. These are a comfortable and versatile option and work with any hairstyle or outfit. Everyone loves to be a queen so “if the crown fits, wear it!”
We spotted many beautifully dressed and accessorised ladies, but we’d like to do a shout out to the all the dapper men that made an effort to add some style to their outfit. It just goes to show that a little bit of effort can go a long way. Guys, take a little time to choose your tie with a complimenting pocket handkerchief, don’t be afraid to mix your colours and experiment with some patterns just like these trendy gents did on cup day.
For avid Fashions on the Field entrant Jen, it’s all about attention to detail. Jen spent hour’s hand beading clusters of crystals and beads to her dress for an individual and personalised look. Jen also finished off her outfit beautifully with these accessories for your accessories, silver necklaces for her shoes and a horse brooch for her clutch! Taking an off the rack dress and adding your own style to it is half the fun of dressing up for the races because the possibilities are endless.
