Ultra-rare pink diamonds headed to Adelaide for exclusive Gerard McCabe party

Renowned Adelaide jewellery shop Gerard McCabe is hosting a Pink Diamond Event this October to showcase some of the world’s most coveted pink diamonds.

Pink Diamonds, the crown jewels and some of the rarest of the gem world, have been a favourite among collectors and jewellery lovers for centuries. For one-day only, Adelaide is set to bathe in their rosy glow as award-winning Adelaide jeweller Gerard McCabe hosts a Pink Diamond party, bringing together some of the world’s most coveted pink diamonds.

Pink diamonds are among the most sought-after gemstones globally, and their allure lies in their sheer scarcity. A significant portion of the world’s pink diamonds came from the now-closed Argyle mine in East Kimberley, Western Australia.

This mine, which was the primary source of these precious gems, produced a mere one carat of polished Argyle pink diamonds for every million carats of rough diamonds mined. To put it into perspective, a year’s collection of polished Argyle pink diamonds weighing over one carat would fit into the palm of your hand.

“Pink diamonds are a phenomenon, and we’re blessed here in Australia to be so close to the source. They’re ultra rare, and their value cannot be underestimated,” Co-Managing Director, Justin McCabe, tells Glam Adelaide.

For one-day only on October 20th, both Gerard McCabe boutiques in Adelaide Arcade and Rundle Mall will be transformed into an exclusive haven for diamond enthusiasts.

During the party, customers can explore an array of ready-to-wear designs, prestige pink diamond jewellery, and exceptional loose gemstones. But the real star of the show is the breathtaking loose pink diamond valued at over $300,000, which is graded as a purple/pink, an ultra-rare category in itself.

“This show stopping $300,000 pink diamond is a testament to their ever-increasing value over time. Prices for these exquisite gems have skyrocketed over the past years, 10 years ago it may have only been worth around $50,000,” McCabe says.

One of the highlights of the party, which fittingly coincides with the Adelaide Fashion Festival program, is that you can view the “Amore” pink diamond ring, an original Gerard McCabe design. The boutique will also showcase a selection of ready-to-wear “Blush” designs, each artfully designed to accentuate the delicate beauty of pink diamonds.

But the Pink Diamond party isn’t just about admiring these treasures from afar. Gerard McCabe offers customers a unique opportunity to work closely with their in-house designer to create their own custom pieces using these rare pink diamonds.

“It’s an exciting part of what we do. For fashion-forward individuals who seek something different, special, and beautiful, the possibilities are endless,” McCabe adds.

Intriguingly, Gerard McCabe’s Pink Diamond party isn’t just about jewellery—it’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of these fascinating gems. The party showcases fresh designs that complement pink diamonds beautifully, incorporating elements like rose gold and white gold.

With past Pink Diamond parties being immensely successful, this year’s edition promises to offer even more. Gerard McCabe will also serving premium Australian pink sparkling wine and delicious pink sweets to make the experience special. For those who have been longing to acquire a pink diamond or are passionate about building their collection, this party is a rare and exciting opportunity.

“You’re going to see all the pink diamonds in one place. People often come to us with a wish-list, and with this party you can see them all in one place served to you on a silver platter,” McCabe says.

“The supplier gives us direct access to everything for one-day-only, which isn’t normally accessible to to those in Adelaide.”
