Known for its extravagant, larger-than-life allure, the city of Dubai has once again captured our attention with a chocolate treat set to dazzle the tastebuds of Adelaideans. Now, you can experience rich, creamy milk chocolate enveloping a luscious pistachio cream, all nestled amongst delicate, crispy Arabic kadayif.
Dubai chocolate is a chocolate bar filled with pistachio and knafeh, a traditional Arabic dessert made with kadayif, a spun pastry dough. It was first created by Fix Dessert Chocolatier in 2021 and branded as ” Can’t Get Knafeh of It”.
Though popular in Dubai, the chocolate bar went viral internationally from late 2023 through to 2024 when it was promoted online by influencers and social media personalities. After multiple popular videos, a surge in demand led to 30,000 online orders, briefly crashing the Fix Dessert Chocolatier delivery platform. One TikTok video in particular garnered over 100 million views.
With its beautifully designed packaging and fascinating concoction of flavours and textures, it’s no wonder that influencers, celebrities, and chocoholics around the globe have been clamouring to get a taste. In fact, the chocolate went so viral that there have even been cases of chocolate bar smuggling in places like Austria and Weil am Rhein, Germany.
The Turkish Delight Mediterranean Sweetery is a family-owned and run business that began as a successful pop-up stall at the Central Market in 2016. Since then, they’ve been dedicated to serving up authentic Mediterranean treats to Adelaide’s sweet-tooths from their brick-and-mortar location on Rundle Street while shipping nationwide.
The store, run by the mother-son duo of Mona and Mohammad Hassan, has now added another delectable treat to their arsenal by bringing Dubai chocolate to the hungry foodies of Adelaide. When you visit their stall at the Adelaide Central Market, you won’t miss the new 3-tier silver platter tower covered in pristinely wrapped chocolate bars.
