The Lyndoch Hotel has been part of the Barossa story for generations, but it is about to reveal a new look that promises to breathe fresh energy into the local favourite. The familiar green façade is on its way out, making room for a lighter, brighter palette that balances modern touches with the building’s long-held character.
For co-director Sandy Lyons, who took over the leasehold almost a year ago, the timing felt right.
“The repaint was due, so we thought it was the perfect chance to refresh things,” she says.
“We wanted a softer, fresher look, but we didn’t want to lose what makes the hotel special. People have memories tied to this place, and we wanted to respect that.”
But the changes aren’t stopping at the paintwork. The hotel’s beer garden has been transformed into a welcoming outdoor retreat.
Perfectly positioned between the Red Room dining space and the sports bar, the area now features fresh paving, lush greenery and plenty of space for locals and visitors to unwind.
“It’s completely family friendly, dog friendly too, and we’ve really designed it as a spot to settle in for the afternoon,” Sandy says.
“We’re also putting in a big outdoor screen in time for summer so people can catch live sport and events out in the open.”
Inside, there’s just as much happening. A brand-new menu launches on 1 October, and it’s set to celebrate the region’s incredible produce while keeping a few pub classics on the table.
“Think fresh local seafood, great cuts of meat and dishes with a bit of flair,” Sandy says.
“We’ve kept the favourites, but we’ve given them a little twist.”
Beyond the physical changes, Sandy and her team are strengthening the hotel’s role in the community. In recent months, they’ve partnered with local sporting clubs, including the bowls and cricket teams, giving back to the groups that have supported the venue for decades.
“The hotel has always been part of Lyndoch’s social fabric,” Sandy says.
“We want to build on that and make sure we stay connected.”
With the first anniversary of the new ownership falling on 23 September, the celebrations are kicking off early. On Saturday 20 September, the Red Room will come alive with live music from The Cutters, giveaways, drink specials and a proper party atmosphere.
“The Red Room has a history of big nights and live music, and we wanted to bring that back,” Sandy says.
“It’ll be a chance to celebrate the past year and look ahead to what’s next.”
From the refreshed look to the upgraded beer garden, the new menu and stronger community ties, the Lyndoch Hotel is ready for its next chapter.
“It’s still the same hotel everyone knows, but it feels lighter, brighter and more inviting,” Sandy says.
“We want people to walk in and feel like they’ve found somewhere special.”
