Adelaide is heading into a fairly typical early winter stretch, with a few passing showers to start the weekend before brighter and slightly warmer conditions settle in across the city next week.
Today Adelaide is looking at partly cloudy skies and a medium chance of showers, most likely through the afternoon and evening. Temperatures are set to top out at 17 degrees, with light to moderate winds shifting from the south and southwesterly to west and northwesterly. Saturday stays on the mild side, also reaching 17 degrees, with partly cloudy conditions and the chance of a shower through the morning and afternoon.
Sunday brings a quieter picture for Adelaide, with partly cloudy skies, a slight chance of morning fog and a top of 18 degrees. Rain chances ease right back, and light winds should make for a calmer day across the suburbs. By Monday, conditions improve further, with mostly sunny weather and temperatures lifting to 19 degrees. Light winds will become north to northeasterly during the morning, a sign that warmer air is beginning to move in.
That warming trend continues into Tuesday, which is shaping up as the pick of the week. Sunshine is forecast across Adelaide, with a top of 20 degrees and north to northeasterly winds at 15 to 25 km/h. It should feel noticeably brighter and more settled than the opening days of the forecast period. Wednesday then marks the next shift, with partly cloudy skies and a high chance of showers as winds strengthen from the north before turning west to northwesterly during the day. The temperature is expected to reach 19 degrees, so it won’t be especially cold, but it may be a day to plan around if you’re heading out. By Thursday, Adelaide returns to mostly sunny conditions, though there is still a slight chance of a shower. The forecast top is 18 degrees with light winds, rounding out a week that starts damp, turns pleasant, and then briefly dips back into showery territory.
Across South Australia, the broader pattern is also fairly settled, though coastal and southern districts will see the most of the lingering wet weather in the short term. Showers are expected about the west coast and agricultural areas on Friday, mainly along windward coasts and ranges, before contracting to southern coasts by Saturday afternoon and evening. On Sunday, isolated showers will linger mainly about the southern coasts and ranges before mostly clearing in the evening.
By Monday, much of the state is forecast to be fine, apart from isolated showers developing in the far west late in the evening. Temperatures are generally expected to sit near average at first, then climb above average by Monday as lighter winds turn northeast to northerly. Rainfall totals are expected to stay low across most districts, though the Limestone Coast and parts of the southern coasts and ranges could pick up the highest falls. Along Adelaide Metropolitan Waters, conditions remain relatively manageable through the long weekend period, with seas below 1 metre on Saturday through Monday and mostly sunny conditions developing by Sunday and Monday.
Happy Friday!
