Adelaide weather forecast for Saturday July 25 and the days ahead

Adelaide is heading into a cool, showery stretch, with damp conditions lingering through Tuesday before a gradual improvement later in the week.

Adelaide is in for a grey, showery start to the week, with cool daytime temperatures set to linger before conditions gradually ease later in the week. While the city won’t see anything too dramatic, it’s shaping up as a classic mid-winter run of weather, with showers on and off through Tuesday, brisk coastal winds at times, and only a slight improvement from Thursday.

Today will be the wettest start of the seven-day stretch, with cloudy skies and a very high chance of showers across Adelaide. The city is headed for a top of just 16 degrees, with between 1 and 7mm possible, and lighter winds arriving by the evening should make things feel a little less blustery by nightfall. Sunday stays cool, with a partly cloudy sky and the chance of a shower or two, especially as the broader weather pattern remains unsettled across the south of the state. Adelaide’s temperature will again top out at 16 degrees after a chilly morning low of 9.

Monday brings a familiar winter mix, though there should be some decent dry breaks through the first half of the day. A medium chance of showers is forecast, most likely later in the afternoon and evening, as northerly winds strengthen before swinging around to the west to northwesterly. That wind shift will be one to watch, especially for anyone commuting or spending time outdoors, with Adelaide expected to reach 17 degrees after an 8-degree start.

Tuesday looks like another damp day, with cloudier conditions and a high chance of showers, most likely during the morning. Westerly winds will turn southwesterly before easing later, and the temperature will slip back to a top of 15 degrees. By Wednesday, the pattern starts to settle but does not clear completely, with cloudy skies and a medium chance of a light shower still hanging around. Another cold start is on the cards, with a low of 7 and a maximum of 15.

There’s a more noticeable improvement from Thursday, even if winter isn’t going anywhere just yet. Adelaide can expect partly cloudy conditions and only a slight chance of a shower, with a frosty-feeling morning low of 5 degrees and a top of 15. Friday follows with a similar outlook, but a little drier again, bringing partly cloudy skies, light winds and only a 10 per cent chance of rain. It should be one of the more settled days of the week, though temperatures will remain cool with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 15.

Across regional South Australia, the south of the state will carry most of the rain activity over the next few days, with showers pushing across the southern agricultural area today before becoming more isolated this evening. The Mount Lofty Ranges, western coasts of Kangaroo Island and Lower South East are among the areas most likely to pick up the better rainfall totals by Tuesday, with isolated falls of 10 to 20mm possible. Inland and northern districts are looking drier overall, but frosty mornings are expected through the northern agricultural area, the Flinders and parts of the Pastoral districts across the weekend and into Monday. Fog patches are also likely on Sunday and Monday, particularly about Eyre Peninsula and through parts of the agricultural area. A cold front moving across the west on Monday and through remaining districts on Tuesday will freshen winds and bring another burst of showers to southern and some central parts of the state.
