A slow morning wandering between bakeries, an afternoon spent exploring the Adelaide Hills and dinner on Hahndorf’s main street could soon end with a short stroll back to a brand-new boutique hotel.
Hahndorf on Main is preparing to open directly on Hahndorf’s main street, giving you the chance stay in the heart of the historic German town.
While Hahndorf is less than half an hour from Adelaide and has long been one of South Australia’s most popular day-trip destinations, operator Andrew Chapman believes the new hotel will encourage visitors to stay a little longer.
“It’s for people who want to get away from Adelaide,” Andrew said.
Instead of watching the clock and planning the drive home, guests will be able to settle in for the night and make a full weekend of their Adelaide Hills escape. The two-storey hotel will feature 29 rooms designed to create a modern, comfortable and relaxed base for exploring the region.
Room options will include Standard King Rooms, Superior King Rooms, Superior King Rooms with balconies and accessible twin accommodation. The accessible rooms will include level entry from the car park, grab rails and roll-in showers. Each room will feature a king-sized bed, contemporary bathroom and modern amenities, while the superior alternatives offer additional space and enhanced comfort.
No matter what room you pick, it will give you another reason to turn a day in Hahndorf into a peaceful weekend away.
“The second storey has got beautiful views out over the whole town,” added Andrew.
“Once again, they’ll get to stay right in the heart of town, right in the action.”
The hotel’s views and boutique, romantic vibe paired with its clean and stylish interiors, are expected to make Hahndorf on Main particularly appealing to couples looking for a relaxed getaway close to Adelaide.
“It’s probably more about those couples staying somewhere affordable and modern.”
The hotel will also provide convenient new accommodation for people attending weddings, conferences and private events in the area. With The Haus Restaurant only a short walk away, Andrew said the two venues are working closely together to give guests an easy place to stay post-celebration or corporate event and rounding out their Adelaide Hills experience.
Hahndorf on Main is set to open in mid to late October 2026 with pre-bookings expected to open in early August.
