Five Regions Restaurant, Adelaide Oval’s esteemed dining destination, is set to close its doors on January 13 paving the way for an innovative private dining experience.
This transition marks a new chapter in the Oval Hotel’s culinary journey, building on the success and acclaim Five Regions has garnered over the years.
Since its inception three years ago as part of the $42m Oval Hotel development, Five Regions Restaurant has been a popular food hotspot in South Australia. Its unique concept of partnering with local wineries every two months to create a degustation menu that mirrors the essence of South Australia’s wine regions has captivated both locals and tourists alike.
The restaurant’s approach to combining exquisite dishes with a selection of the finest local wines has not only earned it prestigious awards and Chef’s Hats but also a loyal following. Its upcoming collaboration with Penfolds will be the grand finale of this remarkable gastronomic journey.
While it’s an end of an era, the Oval Hotel is enthusiastic about its new venture. The replacement of Five Regions with a private dining area adjacent to the more casual Bespoke Wine Bar & Kitchen is a move towards a more intimate and personalized dining experience.
Executive Chef Daniel Simpson, the creative force behind Five Regions’ success, will continue to lead the culinary team, ensuring the same high standards in this new endeavour.
“Three years ago, we launched Five Regions Restaurant with the intention of showcasing our South Australian wine regions to visitors from near and far, while also plating up some of the best degustation dining in the state,” the Oval Hotel stated.
“In 2024, we’re changing up the Oval Hotel dining experience and retiring the Five Regions Restaurant concept to make way for a new private dining offering.”
