As one store closes for Phat Head, a world of festival catering continues

Hero of the dumpling, Phat Head, has announced the closure of its Semaphore store, but will still be serving favourites at events around SA.

The team at Phat Head Semaphore has announced the closure of the popular dumpling destination, sending die-hard dumpling fans into a spin.

But take-heart Phat Head fanatics, owners Dan and Rosy will still be serving up their delicious dumplings, noodles and signature grilled chicken at events all over Adelaide, as they focus on their long-running catering business.

And if it’s Phat Head’s blissful bubble teas you can’t do without, Mum’s-the-word on a new project, they say will have Bubble Tea lovers bursting.

Dan and Rosy took to social media this week to announce the shock closure of the Semaphore store and to thank their regular customers for their support.

“Bye to Semaphore for now. We have been blown away by your ongoing support. Many special thanks to the regular customers, we will miss your friendship.”

The post received an outpouring of support from Phat Head fans, sad to see the Semaphore store go, but vowing to follow the food truck for their dumpling fix.

“We’ve been so lucky to have you serving your delicious food over the last three years here in Semaphore,” Port Adelaide Enfield Councilor, David Wilkins, wrote.

Many well-wishers also thanked the Phat Head team for providing amazing vegan options like their juicy lemongrass noodles.

“The closure of the Semaphore store came out of the blue for Rosy and I. Believe it or not, the business was going quite strong, but our passion lies in catering,” Dan told Glam Adelaide.

Phat Head has been catering in food trucks and serving their Vietnamese classics, reborn in dumpling form, at major festivals across the state for six years.

Dan said a decision came down to either the shop or the catering, and although it was tough to leave a “fantastic community” at Semaphore, they’re looking forward to continuing to serve their dumplings, noodles and signature bubble tea all over Adelaide and SA.

“We know the future is strong. After all, we are passionate about our food and giving everyone the best possible food and service we can.”
