Australia’s first National Ice Hockey Super League will launch with three South Australian teams, aiming to have a list of 15 teams by 2023.

Calling all Ice Hockey fans in South Australia; this one’s for you. Adelaide is set to host Australia’s first-ever professional ice hockey league!

The National Hockey Super League will launch with three teams and aim to have a list of 15 teams by 2023.

Three South Australian teams: the Noarlunga Stars, Port Adelaide Brewers and Adelaide XTream will feature in the exciting National Hockey Super League. The teams are made up of predominantly South Australian players, with hopes to expand to a national level next summer.

The first-ever season is set to kick-off at the beginning of November and will be played at the Ice Arena in Thebarton, where crowds can watch join on Friday nights and watch the thrilling sport.

The National Hockey Super League’s rulebook will be similar to the current National Hockey League, where each of the team’s general managers can contact two marquee players to build their team around; however, the player cannot be from the same club in the Ice Hockey South Australia season.

Ice Hockey players can be drafted by nominating themselves prior to the rest of the team is filled out at the National Hockey Super League draft which is set to take place in October.

All teams and rules will be announced after the draft, with an exciting season to commence in November.
