A blockbuster winter weekend is rolling into one of South Australia’s top wine regions this July as SANFL’s Kick n Sip Festival makes its debut at Lyndoch’s Barossa Park.

Running alongside the SANFL SA Country Football Championships and a Hostplus SANFL League game between Central District and South Adelaide, the festival will take over the concourse with a heated marquee on Saturday, July 11th from 12pm to 6pm, bringing wine, food and music to one of the biggest football weekends on the state’s calendar.

Already a proven crowd favourite at Sturt Football Club over the King’s Birthday long weekend, Kick n Sip is now expanding into the Barossa, with organisers saying the region was a perfect fit for its next chapter.

“Kick n Sip was built to elevate the traditional footy experience, combining great football with wine, food and a strong social atmosphere,” shared Sarah Williams, SANFL Head of Events & Game Day Experience. “After three successful years at Sturt, the Barossa felt like a natural next step. It’s a world-class destination that aligns perfectly with what Kick n Sip is all about.”

This year, the festival will showcase Barossa wine tastings, a curated food offering including paella and pizza, and live DJ sets from Fresh 92.7. Festivalgoers will be able to get their hands on limited-edition Kick n Sip Barossa tasting glasses, available for $5, all while raising funds for The Hospital Research Foundation Group through the Barossa Wine Wall.

“Traditionally, game day is all about what happens on the field. Kick n Sip broadens that into a more social, lifestyle-driven experience,” shared Sarah. “You can enjoy high-quality football while sampling Barossa wine tastings, enjoying great food and soaking up the atmosphere with a Fresh 92.7 DJ setting the tone throughout the day.

“There’s also a dedicated family zone at Barossa Park with inflatable goals, giant lawn games and putt putt, so there really is something for everyone. It creates a more relaxed, inclusive environment that appeals to a wider audience – including those who might not usually attend the footy.”

With the Country Championships drawing around 300 of South Australia’s best male and female country footballers, the weekend will feature a Friday night opening clash under lights, junior clinics, and a full three-day program of football culminating in Sunday’s presentations.

Saturday remains a highlight, with the festival building towards the 4:10pm SANFL League clash between Central District and South Adelaide, expected to draw strong crowds from across the region.

Sarah says events like this are incredibly important for regional economies and tourism. “They give people a compelling reason to visit and experience the region differently. By aligning with a major sporting event, we’re driving visitation, supporting local businesses, and putting places like Lyndoch firmly on the map as event destinations.”
