The Adelaide Central Market is about to get a whole lot sweeter, with Crepe Bar bringing its fluffy, handmade crepes and creations to the heart of the CBD.

After 13 years serving up crepes from food trucks and five years at its beloved O’Connell Street location, Crepe Bar is entering its next chapter with a brand-new home inside the Central Market. Husband and wife co-owners, Toula and Yianni said opening in the market has always been a dream, and when the opportunity came about, it felt like it was meant to be.

“I think it’s going to be a perfect fit,” said Toula.

“Most of the products we use in our crepes are sourced locally and we’ve always relied on the markets for fresh produce … so we’ll be able to do seasonal, maybe crepe of the month.”

While the menu stretches to simple classics like lemon and sugar crepes to indulgent favourites like strawberry and Nutella, the Crepe Bar isn’t just about satisfying your sweet tooth. They also make savoury crepes to silence your hunger and completely round out your day.

Their fan-favourite Crepe Bar Special savoury creation has remained one of their most popular choices, offering “a bit of everything” with fresh crumbed chicken, ham, gooey cheese and fresh produce wrapped inside.

While the new era will brings a lot of sweetness, it will also bring a bittersweet goodbye to the O’Connell Street store that has kept locals fed with countless savoury crepes and after dinner treats over the years.

“We’ve had a great time there … I think it’s just time to move on, and we’re not too far!”

However, the essence of Crepe Bar will continue to grow, with its iconic made-to-order crepes still crafted right in front of customers’ eyes. The new location will also feature seating where guests can watch the team prepare their creations, keeping the experience at the heart of the venue.

“It’s all made fresh in front of people and they enjoy that experience … it’s about the experience, pouring it on, the way we fill it and everything else.”

Crepe Bar is set to join the Adelaide Central Market in November, with the team currently designing its new home.

Toula said they’re excited to bring to the market what they’ve always believed in: “fresh food, friendly service and a memorable experience.”
